About RTFIPro
RTFIPro, as an industrial radiography support group, was established in January 2022, with the publication of "A Practical Field Handbook In Industrial Radiography & Radiograph Interpretation." The main focus of the RTFIPro is to help industrial radiographers in conducting their field activities professionally and in accordance with acceptable industrial best practices and compliance with current construction codes, e.g. ASME, ISO, API, etc. The RTFIPro uses multiple platforms, e.g. YouTube, Twitter, LInkedIn, Facebook, etc. to interact with the industrial radiography peers, within North America and around the globe.
Learn MoreCode Committees
RTFIPro works continuously and closely with different ASME Code Committees. The aim is to clarify any possible confusion and nuances of different acceptance criteria stipulated in ASME Codes.

Performing industrial radiography by developing an inspection configuration specific technique and producing a high quality radiograph is the first step. The next, most important task, is interpretation.

Learn More"What an amazing read! Finally, radiographers have a current and remarkable resource for learning everything you need to know about radiography all in one book! I highly recommend this publication for anyone…whether your just learning about this method or you are a seasoned technician, you should own this book! Well done George Jaques and Dr. Aziz Rehman!”
I bought this book because after years of performing industrial radiography i decided to pursue my level two certification and am very impressed with the content. Not only is it a great practical guide for doing radiography in the field, its also been very useful as i study for my exam. The book covers everything rt related from the theory to working in the field and goes into great detail from the basics of building an rt shooter kit, supplying a darkroom, examining welds, castings, forgings, etc. The section on film interpretation is great too not only for exam preparation ... Very good book for level iii's and trainers. Have not been able to read cover to cover yet but am impressed with what i have read. Would have liked more on advanced rt(digital) but otherwise covers all the bases.
From the point of view of someone who has worked for an asme authorized inspection agency for over 40 years, this can easily be considered a "go to" reference, especially if you don't want to start with the referenced standards themselves to find everything you need concerning rt. As with all handbooks, it's going to have the inherent problem of when a standard is revised (such as asme's bpv code, which changes every 2 years), portions will become out-of-date. I agree that more could be said about techniques such as cr & dr. Unit 26, in my opinion, could be ... Read More
I very much appreciate this book, as it efficiently provides the relevant rt information that is most needed for inspectors. Unlike other textbooks which contain random articles from many authors, jaques and rehman keep it organized, streamlined, and potent. The first half of the text covers the basics of the method, while the back half covers code requirements and film interpretation to a huge extent that won't be found in other texts. Tons of helpful pictures and charts as well. An excellent reference work to have.
The swiss army knife of industrial radiography. Congrats on such an in-depth tool for anyone in the field. Im currently a level ii and reference this book on a regular basis. Very practical approach to theory! !
From interpretation of film to what you should carry in your shooter box, this book has it all. Need the other nondestructive methods like this.
This is a great book. It have learn me so much about rt that i didnt know. Its a must have book if your looking to get into x-ray or learn more about.
Any cedo with half an inkling will acquire this essential compendium and know it from cover to cover. You will not find a more relevant or detailed source of essential information anywhere else.
George Jaques and Dr. Aziz Rehman have distilled years of radiography experience and knowledge into a practical field guide just as the title indicates. For the radiographer this is perhaps the most important text you will ever own. However it goes much further than that. Unquestionably the field radiographer will find this guide an indispensable reference of information but so will engineers, quality personnel and NDT managers or anyone who may need to understand almost any aspect of radiography, its application, limitations, and standard and code requirements. From the experienced to those just starting out in radiography or NDT, a ... Read More
This is an amazing book for anyone who has plans or is studying to do or rewrite their RT1 or RT2. It is a great study aid for new and senior Techs. This book is full of great and valuable information from film interruptions to IQI Sensitivity and Hole penny charts, Procedures and codes for use after you get your RT2 in the darkroom. it is a must have in your collection of study tools for the NDT/NDE industry. This also contains diagrams on all different styles of X-ray Technics for help on your Practical exam for CGSB.
It is great to see that we now at last have a book on Industrial radiography that explains How to apply the theory and practice and not simply what it is. The individual sections of the book provide beginners and experienced technicians alike with all the relevant information needed to produce compliant and quality radiographs as well as assembling all necessary support tools. Particularly enjoyed the high quality radiographs and clear explanations of indications and artifacts. Essential reading to any radiographer who wants to ensure they are up to date and well informed
Every radiographer that cares about their work should have this book in their quiver. Not only is it great for new radiographers, it's an asset for experienced techs as well, who might have 'forgotten' a few things.
The industry needed this, and it's great to see how well this book was put together. Sure there may be some lesser options available for general knowledge, but in my opinion, none of them are nearly as comprehensive as this book is.
This book covers a broad range of "real world" industrial radiography applications, with an impressive attention to detail. Whether your a beginner or an experienced radiographer, I would highly recommend you have a copy of this book close at hand.
